
Following meetings between an Azerbaijani delegation and Croatian government officials in Zagreb on 5 October, both sides noted that energy, tourism and transport are main areas in which Croatia and Azerbaijan are interested in establishing or promoting co-operation.
The Azerbaijani delegation, headed by Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev, held talks with Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Radimir Cacic, and Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Minister, Sinisa Hajdas Doncic.
Following a decision by Gazprom to bypass Croatia as the Russian gas monopoly plans the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline, Zagreb discussed with Azeri officials Baku’s participation in natural gas transport corridors and energy projects.
On 5 November, Josipovic verified Gazprom’s choice for South Stream. On 31 October, Hungary approved a final investment in the project and gave South Stream the status of a project of national significance.
