The new, well-prepared campaign promoting Macedonian wine in the United States have yielded early results after the presentation of wines by Stobi winery in chain stores by Winebow distributor, MIA reports from Washington.
The company, which covers the most important wine market in the US, enabled for the first time Macedonian wine to be available in the capital, Washington DC.
“We have 5,000 wines, including two from Macedonia for the first time,” said John Fitter of MacArthur’s wine store in western Washington.
Fitter found out about Macedonia’s wine at an event organised by the Macedonian embassy and through the Invest in Macedonia campaign.
“The wines have been accepted well and they are being sold faster than I have expected. It is a good approach to produce quality wine and then start promoting it to find its way to consumers. Washington is a good place because it has a sophisticated wine market,” he said.
Wines of the largest Macedonian winery Tikves are already being promoted on the American market. Stobi wines are promoted together with wines from Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia through the Balkan Wine Project.
